Control of Pest beetles

Garden nematodes are a blend of species of microscopic larvae that target the larval stages of various garden pests. They parasitize the bodies of their prey and kill them within a few days. The predator reproduces inside the body of its host by feeding on their tissues, and new nematodes are released.

They are effective for controlling rose chafer, Japanese beetle, common cockchafer, and black vine weevil. They also target carrot fly larvae and birch leafminer larvae.

Garden nematodes are offered in the form of a paste sachet to be diluted in water and applied to lawns and flower beds using a hose sprayer.

Method

For control
10 million nematodes cover 2000 square feet. Introduce twice a year, in spring and fall.

Instructions

  • Lightly water the soil with clear water to promote nematode retention.
  • Soak the nematode sponge in a container of cold water and gently agitate to dissolve its contents.
  • Ideally, check the viability of the nematodes by observing a portion of the mixture. The use of a magnifying glass is essential for this purpose. The majority of nematodes should be curved or moving.
  • Pour the mixture into the sprayer container and water the entire lawn and flower beds.

Precautions

  • Adjust the introduction schedule to avoid exposure to temperatures below 8°C.
  • Apply nematodes to short grass of one to two inches to facilitate absorption.
  • Avoid exposing nematodes to sunlight; prefer introduction under cloudy skies or in the late afternoon.
  • Prevent the soil from drying out completely during the ten days following introduction. Water if necessary to prevent premature nematode death.
  • Do not mix any other product, fertilizer, or pesticide with the nematode water.
