Sticky trap - Blue
Blue sticky traps are useful tools for gardeners dealing with a thrips problem. Beige, yellow, or black thrips can stick to the traps in significant quantities and are more easily visible on them. More importantly, the trap allows the accurate identification of insects and the treatments effectiveness monitoring.
Instructions
- Remove the protective film and hang the trap on the stems of an infested plant or on another type of support. If necessary, cut the trap with scissors.
- Inspect the trap at seven-day intervals to record the presence of new catches and note the number. Circle the insects caught on the trap with a marker to exclude them from the next inspection.
- Replace the trap when it is saturated or when it becomes difficult to note the catches.
- If the number of catches increases or remains constant from week to week, the treatment probably does not have the desired effects and should be adjusted.
Precautions
- Use yellow traps instead for the control and detection of fungus gnats.
- Avoid combining the use of sticky traps with the introduction of Encarsia formosa. Encarsia may stick to the traps.
